SecondSideMedia updated its Privacy Policy and Terms of Use to clarify how information received through independently operated referral sources is handled.
The updates include:
- Expansion of the Privacy Policy to address contact, company, report, and scan information received through referral, marketing, or professional sources.
- Clarification of how SecondSideMedia may use information received in connection with referred inquiries and report requests.
- Clarification that marketing and promotional communications may be sent where an individual has specifically consented to receive them.
- Additional language confirming that independently operated third-party referral sites are not owned, operated, or controlled by SecondSideMedia.
- Additional Terms of Use language clarifying that SecondSideMedia is not responsible for the content, methodology, availability, representations, or data practices of independently operated referral sites.
- Clarification that any subsequent engagement with SecondSideMedia is separate and governed by SecondSideMedia’s applicable Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
These changes are intended to improve transparency regarding referral relationships, data handling, and the separation between SecondSideMedia and independently operated third-party services.

SecondSideMedia completed a substantial homepage and public-discovery update to explain more clearly what the platform does, how it complements legal and communications strategies, and how its records are evaluated over time.
The update includes:
- A clearer explanation of AI narrative correction, verified publication, and ongoing monitoring.
- Direct access to the latest Published Records and SecondSideMedia Insights.
- A new explanation of how incomplete information can become part of an AI-generated narrative.
- Clearer positioning of SecondSideMedia as a publication and monitoring layer that complements law firms, PR firms, and crisis-management professionals.
- A dedicated explanation of why a verified public response represents a distinct source category rather than another article about the underlying story.
- Identification of three performance indicators used when evaluating published records: search visibility, AI narrative change, and source recognition.
- Updated calls to action for individuals, businesses, and professional advisers.
- Improved mobile presentation and reduced spacing across the homepage.
The Published Records presentation was also standardized. Record cards now display record type, title, publication date, a concise issue-led excerpt, and a direct link to the complete record. These presentation changes do not alter the substance, classification, or publication date of any record.

SecondSideMedia published a dedicated AI Narrative Issues framework to identify recurring problems observed in AI-generated answers, search summaries, and synthesized public narratives.
The framework provides defined classifications for issues including identity conflation, entity misidentification, procedural under-weighting, source amplification, context stripping, causal oversimplification, and narrative persistence.
Published Records may be assigned one or more issue classifications where appropriate. These classifications describe the information problem addressed by the record. They do not represent a legal conclusion, factual adjudication, or finding of wrongdoing.

SecondSideMedia completed additional legal and site-governance updates to improve user notice, policy accessibility, and consistency across the platform.
This update reflects changes made on May 26 and May 27, 2026, including:
- Addition of a Copyright and Intellectual Property Infringement Policy to provide a dedicated process for copyright, IP, and related legal complaints.
- Update and review of the Cookie Policy to clarify cookie and tracking-related disclosures.
- Addition of the Copyright and Intellectual Property Infringement Policy, Cookie Policy, and Accessibility Statement to the website footer.
- Consolidation of standalone disclaimer language into the Terms of Use & Legal Notices.
- Implementation of a redirect from the former Disclaimer page to the Terms of Use page, so users are directed to the authoritative legal framework.
These updates were made to support clearer legal notice, improved footer navigation, stronger platform-governance consistency, and a more centralized legal framework for users, submitters, readers, and external reviewers.
